This weekend was mildly mellow compared to my previous ones. On Saturday, my mom and I went to Serramonte, where I tried on some clothes at Nina's but did not find any that I wanted to buy. Next, we went to Perilla on Irving & 10th and bought their five spice garlic noodle chicken, which my mom recommended to me, and which tasted very good. Later that night we watched "Valentine's Day" which was actually not as good as advertised. On Sunday, my mom and I went to eat Pho in Skyline Plaza and then went to shop in Ranch 99. All in all, we did not do that much this weekend but it was a good time to sit back and relax.
8-10:30 Health class was quite boring today. We took surveys on how stressed we have been this past year, and learned of ways to reduce stress. I always find it funny that Ms.Seawell treats every Monday like a Friday, and says "Thank God it's Monday!". She said that we should appreciate Monday's for what they are, because they are here 1/7 of our life.
10:30-1:30 Took the 29 to work, but my coordinator told me to come back at 2. I went home and decided to take an SAT practice test and miscounted that I had 3 hours, when in reality i only had 2. I would have been late if it wasn't for my friend Harmony who reminded me.
2-6:30 Harmony and I went to work. We were basically sitting at the workplace for 3.30 hours doing nothing and waiting to see which worksite we would be placed at. We were placed in the Boy's and Girl's Club and went to meet our worksite supervisor Vincent. He was cordial and ebullient and said he used to be our coordinator's boss. We learned all of the basic rules and he gave us four hours for today, which was nice of him. Harmony's dad drove us back home.

8-10:30 Today we finished up the movie "Tuesdays with Morrie". The movie was so sad that many people cried. The movie made me quite overwrought about death.
10:30-11:30 Took the 29 & 54 back home.
11:30-3:00 Made an egg with spaghetti sauce and cheese for lunch. Slept for about 2 hours and then walked to internship with Harmony.
3:00-6:30 In the workshop, we took a quiz on everything that we learned over the week. We met a few worksite supervisors from the YMCA, Boys & Girl's Club and many others, who might be my potential employers. We had to stay longer for parent night, where our coordinator basically answered all of our parent's questions about the internship.
6:30-7:30 Went to Lucky's and rented "When in Rome". I actually thought that this movie was really cute but wasn't extremely good. Unfortunately, the DVD kept stopping in the middle which made me quite frustrated.
7:30-8:30 Ate noodles for dinner. I also made rice krispy treats, which was quite easy to make. All i needed was butter, rice crispie cereal, and marshmallows!

8-10:30 Today we spent most of our time in health class watching a sad movie called "Tuesdays with Morrie". It was quite sad, and is about Mitch, a sports editor/journalist who becomes so caught up and busy with work that he does not have time for his loved ones. One day while watching the news, he sees his old beloved professor, Morrie, who proclaims that he is dying. Because of this, Mitch promises to visit Morrie every Tuesday and learns life lessons from his old professor about living and dying. Ms. Seawell also brought her baby, who is adorable.
10:30-1:30 Took the 29 to Sunset and studied in Sunset Branch Library on Irving. Went to Irving Pizza and ate a philly cheese steak.
1:30-5:30 SAT class was quite helpful, and most of our time was spent on spotting main ideas.
5:30-6:30 Took 44 home.
6:30-7:30 Made and ate dinner (Curly Noodle Dinner).

8-10:30 Health Class was quite boring so I don't really remember what happened.
10:30-11:30 Took the 29 bus back home.
11:30-2:45 Bought a burrito at the taqueria near my house and took a nap for about two hours.
2:45-3:00 Walked to Internship.
3:00-5:00 Went to another day of workshop at intership. Most of our time was spent discussing scenarios, and solutions to problems. We all had to discuss each scenario with our neighbor. In every scenario, 5 groups had to stand up and discuss what they picked and why they picked it. These were some of our scenarios:
1. Would you rather recieve $ 1 million dollares or a BA from Stanford?
2. Would you rather receive a one story house on Third Street or a 2010 Mercedes Benz?
3. Would you rather receive $100,000 now, or $500,000 in 10 years?
4. Do you see the glass as half-empty or half-full?
From this workshop, my coordinator was trying to show us that we should not live "for the moment", but rather for the long term. In the first example, he said that education is key and will get us farther in the future. In the second example, he said that having a stable house is more important because property does not really devalue. The car, on the other hand, he said would devalue every single time a new model of the Mercedes Benz comes out, and therefore would not be worth very much in the long run. In the third example, my coordinator said that it was best to take the money after ten years, a time that we would really need it in. In the fourth example, my coordinator actually said something very interesting. He did not say if his glass was half full or half empty, but instead said that his glass is overflowing, because there are just too many things that he is thankful for. I thought that that was an interesting answer.
5-5:15 Walked with my new found friend that actually lives on the same street and 7 houses away from me. I made a detour to FoodsCo to buy chicken breasts.
5:15-7 Cooked & ate dinner (Garlic chicken & rice).

8-10:30 Health class today was basically a continuation of yesterday. We took notes on suicide and depression and then finished the film "How to survive high school." This movie really made me think about the social cliques and statuses in high school and how people treat eachother. From this, I have came out more open minded and considerate of others and their feelings.
10:30-1:30 Took the 28 to Kirkham and walked to practice. I played with 3-5 people in a row, and won all matches. I felt a little rusty but I feel as though I was still able to compete well enough for not playing for so long. I guess muscle memory does work after all. After practice, I walked to Irving and ate pizza for lunch.
1:30-5:30 Had class. Nothing noteworthy but I did see Alvin and his mom.
5:30-6:30 Waited at Borders for my mom to pick me up.

June 21, 2010
So today is the first day of summer in seasons, and was supposedly the "longest day of the year". It fascinated me that at nine o' clock it was still quite bright outside and I was able to still water my roses after I finished making and eating dinner. After countless days of pondering, I decided that I will not write blogs on weekends. I realized that weekends are the only days which I am able to sit back and relax, and I want to keep it that way- that is, resting or may I add, shopping. For a quick recap of this weekend, on Saturday I woke up and made french toast with my new trusty cookbook for breakfast, went to Vivian's house for a few hours and then went to Great Mall with my mother, where my mother bought a few tanks and I bought a short black skirt from H&M. We also bought about $45 worth of small random trinkets from Daiso Japan, which had a going-out sale. From Daiso I bought 2 pairs of fake lashes, fake nails, fake nail stickers, a liquid drainer, a waterbottle, batteries, and many other things which I can not recall at this moment. We ate Thai food and watched the "Tooth Fairy" starring the Rock at night. On Sunday, I went with my mom to Serramonte where I bought a teal dress that I tried on and liked at Forever 21 last week that I was too apprehensive to purchase. Next, my mother and I went "intense grocery shopping", and went to three plazas to purchase my necessary groceries for my upcoming dinners that I promised to make. I cooked meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and gravy for dinner. All in all, I had a good weekend with my mom and spent a good amount of time catching up.
8-10:30 Health Class was quite interesting today. At first, we just took notes on different types of peer pressures like indirect and direct. The interesting part of the class, however, was watching a film called "How to survive high school". It focused on the different "cliques" in high school and how most teenagers are just trying to fit in and have friends. We only watched half of it but it brought in an interesting perspective on high school.
10:30-11 Right after I was released from health class, I received a phone call from Sean, the director of my internship to report to the job today from 3-5. I realized, however, that I would have a time conflict, and decided to directly go to Elite and take the test.
11-2:30 Took an SAT test at Elite.
2:30-3:45 Took the 44 then spontaneously transfered to the T and got off at 3rd street.
3:45-5:45 Unfortunately for me, I arrived at the workshop late and was immediately picked on by our director. I was supposed to recall the names of the people that I just met, and their names, favorite ice creams, and schools. I could only remember one of the girls that I met as many had unique names like Shanaynay, Moisha, Jalaylay or some names that sounded like they were from a foreign language. Thankfully, I knew one of the girls in my class from my old middle school and said her name and another girl's name that I remembered.
5:45-6 Walked home.
6-8 Made shrimp scampi and rice for dinner.

8-10:30 Health Class was quite pointless today. Ms. Seawell reviewed various ways that we could express our feelings & how to act in different situations. We performed improv skits for a few hypothetical situations which was supposed to help us understand communication better. We also played a communication game which was supposed to show how much talking is necessary and essential for human existence. I played football with William during break.
10:30-12 Took the 29 & 8x with Hugh to Chinatown. I've known Hugh since we were about 9 or 10 years old so I was quite ebullient to see him again. We usually hang out once a semester. I always find pleasure talking to him because I can basically talk to him about anything. If i ever talk about table tennis, he understands what I am trying to say, and is probably one out of the few table tennis friends that I am that close to, which is very nice. Every time we talk about the "good old days" at Masaaki's club & how everyone and we changed so much. I realized a while ago that I have probably a handful of friends who I grew up with & still talk to on a regular basis whom I've known for quite a while, which is something that I am very thankful for.
12-2 We probably spent an hour and a half trying to find a restraunt where we could eat at in Chinatown. One of the problems was that we could not find a place where we could sit down and eat, as many of the Chinese restraunts were take out. After a while we got quite hungry and decided to eat at "Broadway Dim Sum & Cafe". Hugh and I both bought dim sum. It was quite funny because the dim sum lady got quite frustrated with me. I said i want 2 siu mai and 2 shrimp dumplings, but she gave me 2 orders of both. It ended up to be 7 dollares and a big heap of food. I finally noticed that it was not what I ordered and the lately became quite frustrated with me because she had to place to food back in the container. We ate there than walked around Chinatown and bought ice cream and drinks from Walgreen's.
2-3 Took the 8x to Downtown and visited Sephora, where I tried on makeup, visited the Apple Store, where we played with the IPad, and watched some of the street dancers for about five minutes. While we were walking near Westfield, we heard a man screaming "FREE DR.PEPPER" and we looked around and saw a Dr.Pepper cart, which was, not to my surprise giving out free Dr.Pepper's as a promotion. Both Hugh and I took Dr.Pepper Cherry flavor and left. I took the 8x back home.
3-4 Gardened in my back yard. I actually got quite a lot done because I was able to take the weeds out near my rosebushes, and also cut down the dead tree.
4-5 Watched one of my favorite daytime TV shows: the Ellen Show. I actually thought that today's show was probably one of the weaker one's that I've seen.
5-7 Took a nap.
All in all, today was quite pleasant, and I definitely enjoyed myself. I feel as though spending times with friends and family most of the time destresses me and I realized that I am really a people person. I like to be around people, which I hope is a good thing, but I know that I sometimes have to be more independent. As for now, hopefully the rest of my summer will be interesting enough to blog about!

8-10:30 Health was pretty mellow today. We took a small quiz on psychological disorders and a self evaluation quiz on "how high our self esteem is". Needless to say, i scored in the range of "high self-esteem". We wrote adjectives using the letters of our names and mine was Sexy? Yes. Lavish, Vicious And Narcissistic. We also went outside and played "human pretzel". The point of the game is to see if together we could untangle our arms by using teamwork.
10:30-11 Took the 29 to Sunset and Noriega and walked around Noriega for a while. I haven't been there in quite a while and saw a cafe that made me kind of nostalgic. I remember one of my ping pong friends (Chris) brought me there one time and bought me a Vietnamese sandwich when the club closed too early one day and I was waiting for my mom to pick me up. Yeah, kind of random.
11-12:30 Ate Pho with David. I was quite indecisive with what I wanted to order so David suggested flipping a coin. It landed on heads so i ordered the Beef Noodle Soup & David ordered the Chicken Noodle Soup. After we finished we walked around AP Ginini and I watched David's last vlog on his ITouch.
12:30-1:30 Took the 71 to Irving. I have never taken the 71 before so I was quite nervous but I got to my destination safely. Because i was early for my SAT class, I decided to study in the library for a while.
1:30-5:30 SAT classes with Randolph. Learned some basics for the Writing section. We also read an interesting article called "Why Mcdonalds Fries Taste So Good" from Fast Food Nation which was quite interesting. It supported the fact that a lot of processed foods only taste good because of engineered flavors and smells. One fact that startled me was that taste only counts for 10% of the food and smell counts for a whopping 90%. That kind of reminded me of last week when i went to Fisherman's Wharf with Vivian and just walking near Coldstone's Creamery made me want to buy some ice cream because of the strong sweet smell.
5:30-6:30 Took the 44 home.
So this is probably going to be most of my summer- Health, SAT classes and spending time with friends. But as for now, I will probably work on one of my newly aquired hobbies...gardening!

Summer, Summer, Summer- three monthes of "freedom", released inhibitions, sleeping in, and most importantly, fun. Unfortunately for me, however, I have to wake up every day at approximately 7am to go to school...again. I just love school so much. Not really. I am, however, having quite a lot of fun, and was allowed to catch up and spend time with many of my friends. Because I did not start blogging until today, I will give a brief summary of my busy summer up to today. So far I have cooked/baked chocolate chip cookies, crepes/pancakes, scrambled eggs & tuna casserole. I have traveled around the city to familiar SF hot spots like Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39, Downtown, North Beach, and the Sunset, and last week I went to Paramount's Great America in Milpitas for a day. I have acquired a new affinity for gardening the roses in my backyard, which I have spent a lot of time on lately, and have coached at my old table tennis club at Glen Park. This is my first blog post and I am extremely excited about it. I will probably spend a lot of time blogging about my day during the summer, but probably not so much when the school year starts because I won't have as much time. Anyways, this was my day:
8-10:30 Health Class w/ Ms. Seawell. We talked more in depth about emotional and mental health. We also played a "icebreaker" game where we asked questions about each other. I am one of six incoming seniors in a class of 50 kids, but I have quickly made friends with some incoming sophmores and juniors that sit near me. Thankfully, William sits in back of me so I have someone to talk to when we're on break.
10:30-11 Took 29 to Judah & Sunset then transfered to the N and got off on 9th & Irving. I have probably only taken one of these lines a few times in my life so I was quite nervous when I found out that the line did not announce stops. We learn and we live though right?
11-12 Bought the Jamba Juice Super YumBerry June 16 Special for $1 and met up with Vivian & Natalie. We walked around Irving and we found a "recycled clothes" store that I thought was interesting. Buy used clothes for cheaper, and sell old clothes for money (35% of sold price in cash OR 50% of sold price in store credit). I just thought this concept was interesting and I have always heard about these stores but never got to see them in real life.
12-1:30 Took the 44 to the California Academy of Sciences, but once we got there it was obvious that we would not be able to enter. The place was packed with people, and the lines went even furthur than the trees, and almost to the pretzel station which was very surprising but not really. If you are wondering why there were so many people, it was "Free Wednesday", and a ticket is regularly priced at $20 for teens under seventeen and adults at $25. Because of this misfortune, we decided to walk around Golden Gate Park and take pictures with Natalie's cool Nikon camera. I was probably the most impressed with and most interested in the "Rose Garden" probably because I have been doing a lot of gardening recently in my backyard. Our previously neglected "garden" is now vivid with life (not really, but better than before) and blossoming with roses that my parents planted a long time ago. I was fascinated by the roses in the "Rose Garden" because there were so many different types and colors. Next, we walked around and by somewhat chance found "Stow Lake". At first we were somewhat leaning towards renting a paddle or row boat for 15 and 19 dollares respectively, but Vivian and I were too nervous about falling in the water so we kept walking. Shortly after, Natalie's camera ran out of batteries so we decided to head home and walked back.
1:30-2:40 Took the 44 back home with Vivian and went to Foodsco to buy supplies to make a hotdog. Her brother came over to my house and we made tuna casserole, the first time that all three of us had even tasted a casserole before. Fortunately, the casserole turned out perfect, but most importantly we had a blast making it. We were supposed to also make crepes for dessert but I did not have milk at my house, so Vivian and her brother left at around 4:10.
4-5 While we were waiting for our casserole to finish, I turned on the TV and saw one of my favorite talk shows: The Ellen Show and decided to watch it for the next hour.
5-7 Took a nap.
That was basically my day. Pretty busy and tiring but you know what they say about busyness. "It is always better to be busy than to be bored."
